These answers are general project guidance. Your accepted proposal records the final scope and terms; obtain independent legal advice for obligations specific to your business.
01Who owns the finished website?
Once the agreed balance is paid and written sign-off is complete, you own the final approved website, copy and custom design deliverables listed in your proposal. Third-party software, fonts, stock assets, plugins and platform services remain subject to their own licences.
02Who manages hosting and the domain?
Afterlight can manage hosting, deployment and technical upkeep through Afterlight Care. Your domain should remain registered in your name wherever possible. If you already own one, we connect it; if not, its cost is added to the quote.
03Can I request the website files?
Yes. A handover or export of available final website files can be provided on written request once the account is settled. Editable working files, proprietary systems and third-party assets are included only where your proposal expressly says so; unusual migration or preparation work may be quoted separately.
04Can the website be moved to another provider?
Usually, subject to the technology and the receiving provider supporting it. We will reasonably assist with an agreed handover after outstanding invoices are cleared. External providers may charge their own migration, hosting or licensing fees.
05What content and legal information must I provide?
You are responsible for the accuracy of business claims and for permission to use supplied text, trademarks, photography, video and customer data. You must identify any industry disclosures, privacy policy, terms, accessibility or regulatory requirements that apply. Afterlight can place supplied policies but does not provide legal advice.
06How are privacy and contact-form data handled?
We build forms and integrations using the providers agreed for your project. You should tell us what personal information you collect, why you collect it and any retention or consent requirements. Your privacy policy should accurately describe those practices.
07What happens if the scope changes?
Anything outside the approved brief is discussed before work proceeds. We will confirm whether it can be exchanged for another item, included within the existing scope or added as a separately approved variation.
08How do payments, cancellation and sign-off work?
The proposal confirms whether payment is upfront or split into milestones. Project funds remain allocated to the agreed work until written client sign-off. Cancellation, refunds, paused projects and incomplete client-supplied content are handled under the accepted proposal and any agreed variation.
09Are rankings or business results guaranteed?
No. Every site is structured with SEO-ready technical foundations, but ongoing search campaigns, rankings, sales and other commercial outcomes depend on factors outside the website build and are not guaranteed.
10What support is available after launch?
Your first 30 days of Afterlight Care are included. After that, the required care plan covers hosting and backend services, while the priority plan adds faster support, ongoing edits and same-day revisions where possible.
